MGZ – Medical Genetics Center takes an interdisciplinary approach to caring for your patients. We offer expertise in the field of human genetics both through our diagnostic testing services in our cyto- and molecular genetics laboratory and through genetic counseling in our clinic.

Clinicians and scientists worldwide are welcome to take advantage of our laboratory services by sending us samples for genetic analyses. Our medical and scientific experts are available to work with you to develop strategies for testing which are most likely to yield informative results for your patients.

We hope that with our approach to medical genetics we can make a substantial contribution to the care of your patients and look forward to working with you.

The interpretation of test results is personally handled by the medical doctors and scientists most knowledgeable about the clinical manifestations of the disease of interest and/or specializing in that particular scientific field. In writing our test reports, we focus on the clinical information provided to us for each patient so we may include information on and recommendations regarding differential diagnostics. At the end of each laboratory report you'll find the names of the specialists who have written the report; they are available for contact should you have any questions or concerns.

Our DAkkS-accredited laboratory regularly participates in external quality control measures. We comply with high quality standards in all phases of genetic testing to ensure trustworthy test results and reporting.

Our Genetic Testing Services

  • Diagnostic genetic testing
  • Prenatal testing
  • Predictive and pre-symptomatic testing
  • Carrier screening

Our medical doctors are also in practice conducting genetic consultations for a variety of indications (see About Genetic Counseling). Every consultation we conduct is followed by a report summarizing the content of the session, an opinion as to whether a genetic disorder is affecting your patient and/or his or her family and, where appropriate, a recommended course of action, treatment, or therapy.

We also offer consultation services to clinicians - these are available whether a genetic analysis is imminent or has already been carried out. Prior to a genetic analysis, we can work with clinicians to consider what a genetic diagnostic strategy might look like. These services are available to clinicians via web conference or telephone conference call. To learn more about this service, click here.
